KSPG's Review Suggestions for the ASBOG exam*

* Each individual learns differently. These suggestions are provided merely as a guide for one possible method for exam preparation.

  1. Contact the Kentucky Board of Registration for Professional Geologists for information and application materials regarding profesional registration in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

  2. For specific information about the ASBOG exam or professional registration, go to the ASBOG website, and be sure to carefully read the Professional Geologists Candidate Handbook. The Candidate Handbook is the ONLY official, ASBOG-sanctioned source of information and review materials for the ASBOG exams.

  3. Review the Exam Blueprint described in the Candidate Handbook, and note the weighting given to different geological topics (eg. geophysics, hydrogeology, etc.) on the ASBOG exams.

  4. Identify your personal strengths and weaknesses in these different topic areas. The Review of Practical Geology short course is designed to help with this part of the process.

  5. Carefully plan your studying to focus on the topics with which you feel least confident, and which have the most emphasis on the exam. Undergraduate textbooks effective–yet sometimes expensive–resources for this task. If budget is a consideration, you might also consider some of the resources listed below.
